Steiner Optics' 8x24 Wildlife XP Compact Binocular is as comfortable to hold as they are compact to carry. The smaller objective's somewhat limited light-gathering abilities are offset through the use of broadband multi-coatings on all optical surfaces that improve light transmission while ensuring high-contrast and true colour rendition. All exposed lens surfaces are further treated with Steiner's "Nano Protection" coatings that repel water, dirt, dust, and oils; helping to keep the lenses clear for better viewing and making it easier to clean without causing scratches. Despite its size, the Wildlife XP still has a very respectable 57° field of view that borders on wide-angle so you'll be able to take in the entire scene as it unfolds in front of you. For detailed observations, this model has a close 6' minimum focus distance. Whether you're spotting a buck in the brush, or a bee on a buttercup, this binocular will allow you to see it all.
Complementing the Wildlife's optical performance are construction details that make them durable enough for everyday use. The chassis is made from Makrolon polycarbonate, which is impact and corrosion-resistant. Makrolon is also temperature-resistant, so the optical tubes won't expand and contract with temperature fluctuation, which, over time, can cause the optics to move out of collimation; preventing the binocular from being able to achieve sharp focus. The chassis is wrapped with a long-lasting NBR rubber armouring which not only protects it from drops and impacts, it also gives the binocular a slip-resistant grip - especially in cold and wet weather. Its optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to make them water and fog proof, even in extreme conditions.
