Install a camera anywhere in your studio or on location with the ultracompact Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera 4K G2. This tiny UHD 4K studio camera is designed for live productions and has been updated to feature the same image sensor found in Blackmagic's Studio Camera 4K Plus G2, which supports 3840 x 2160p60. The camera is equipped with an active MFT mount that can accept native MFT lenses or be adapted to a wide range of other modern and vintage lenses. It outputs 10-bit 4:2:2 video via 12G-SDI and can be remotely controlled from an ATEM switcher using SDI control protocol. The camera packs many professional studio features into a compact form factor, including a built-in colour corrector, program return, talkback, and tally indicator.
Compact Size for Live Productions
Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 is the perfect solution for placing cameras on the set when you don't have space for regular-sized cameras. It includes the popular MFT lens mount, a very low-light 4K image sensor, and cinematic colour science. So it's small, but has the features of a full-sized studio camera! You also get 12G-SDI for HD and UHD 4K operation up to 2160p60. It's also possible to control the built in colour corrector and lens using the SDI and HDMI connections. It can even record Blackmagic RAW to USB disks. Plus Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 goes well beyond broadcast quality with log gamma, allowing you to create cinematic colour-corrected looks, all in camera.
Designed for Live Production
The small size of the Micro Studio Camera makes it virtually invisible, so you can place it just about anywhere on the set. You can have more camera angles than ever before for your live production to create a more interesting program. Its professional broadcast connections make it perfect for any kind of work such as television production, broadcast news, sports, education, conference centres, and churches. It's now easy to hide lots of cameras on stage for the most incredible shorts. While Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera is designed for live production, it can also be used with editing software because it can record Blackmagic RAW to USB disks for later editing and colour correction.
Low-Light Performance
In advanced cameras, ISO is a measurement of the image sensor's sensitivity to light. This means the higher the ISO the more gain can be added so it's possible to shoot in natural light, or even at night. The Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera features gain from -12dB (100 ISO) up to +36dB (25,600 ISO) so it's optimized to reduce grain and noise in images, while maintaining the full dynamic range of the sensor. The primary native ISO is 400, which is ideal for use under studio lighting. Then the secondary high base ISO of 3200 is perfect when shooting in dimly lit environments. The gain can be set from the camera HDMI menu, or remotely from a switcher using the SDI/HDMI remote camera control.
Cinematic Images in Live Production
The amazing 4K sensor combined with Blackmagic generation 5 colour science gives you the same imaging technology used in digital film cameras. That means you can now use cinematic images for live production. Plus, when combined with the built-in DaVinci Resolve primary colour corrector you get much better images than simple broadcast cameras. The colour corrector can even be controlled from the switcher. With 13 stops of dynamic range, the camera has darker blacks and brighter whites, perfect for colour correction. The sensor features a resolution of 4096 x 2160 which is great for both HD and Ultra HD work. Plus, Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 supports from 23.98 fps up to 60 fps.
Affordable Photographic Lenses
With the popular MFT lens mount, Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera is compatible with a wide range of affordable photographic lenses from Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma, and more. Photographic lenses offer incredible quality because they're designed for use in high-resolution photography. Plus, the active lens mount lets you adjust the lens remotely. It lets you adjust cameras mounted high up in hard-to-reach areas without needing to physically access them. Plus, the optional focus and zoom demands let you adjust the lens just like a large studio camera. This means you can set important lens settings such as focus, zoom, and iris just like you can with an expensive B4 broadcast lens.
Built-In Tally
Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K features a tally light that illuminates red for on-air, green for preview, and orange for ISO recording. This makes it easy for talent to present with confidence as they know at a glance which camera is on air. You get full support for the SDI and HDMI tally protocol from switchers such as ATEM Television Studio, ATEM Constellation, and ATEM Mini. This means that a director can cut between cameras and the tally information will be sent back to the cameras, lighting up the tally light on the camera whenever is live on the air. Because the tally is sent via the SDI and HDMI connections to the camera, complex cabling is eliminated.
Broadcast Connections
Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 has 12G-SDI that supports video, tally, and camera return which makes setup fast. It includes a full-size HDMI connector for local video monitoring so you can attach a monitor such as a Blackmagic Video Assist to change settings through the menu overlay or check the position of a remote camera. You also get a USB-C expansion port for recording to external disks or controlling the camera via zoom and focus demands. You can even connect a USB-C to Ethernet adapter to control the camera over a network via REST APIs. Plus, there's a 3.5mm port for connecting a microphone.
Two Ways to Connect
Blackmagic Micro Studio Cameras feature HDMI output so are perfect for HDMI switchers such as ATEM Mini. The HDMI supports video, tally, control, and record trigger for a broadcast-style workflow using a single HDMI cable. They also have 12G-SDI so you can connect to SDI-based switchers such as the ATEM Constellation. There's a 12G-SDI connection for camera video and one for program return. The program return also includes tally, talkback, and remote camera control.
Built-In Microphones
Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera includes built-in microphones so you get sound included in the design making setup much faster. Each microphone is placed at the optimal position meaning you get better stereo separation than what is possible on a regular video camera. There's also a 3.5mm audio input so you can connect to video microphones when you need to add larger more directional microphones with wind protection. Whether you're using the built-in microphones or attaching an external mic, the audio is embedded into the SDI and HDMI video outputs so you get perfect audio and video sync.
USB-C for External Disks and Ethernet Control
Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K features a high-speed USB-C expansion port that lets you record to external disks, control the camera via a network, or connect a wide range of accessories. Plug in an external USB disk and the camera can record high-quality 12-bit Blackmagic RAW files for later editing and colour correction. That means you can just move the disk to a computer to work and you don't need to waste time copying files. Or add a USB-C to Ethernet adapter to control your camera over a network via easy-to-use REST APIs. Plus plug in optional focus and zoom demands to allow full lens control, just like a large studio camera.
Blackmagic RAW Quality
Blackmagic RAW is a revolutionary new format designed to capture and preserve the quality of the sensor data from your camera. Some file formats such as H.264 are highly compressed, adding noise and artifacts, causing sensor detail to be lost forever. Blackmagic RAW eliminates this problem so you get stunning images with incredible detail and rich colour throughout the whole post-production pipeline. Blackmagic RAW also saves camera settings as metadata so you can change ISO, white balance, and exposure later in DaVinci Resolve. Plus the files are small and fast, so editing responsiveness is incredible. Only Blackmagic RAW gives you the highest quality, smallest files, and fastest performance.
Blackmagic OS
Blackmagic OS is a true modern operating system where all camera features run independently for smoother control, plus the camera powers on virtually instantly. The menus are overlaid on the HDMI video output. The interface uses the row of buttons on the front of the camera to access menus and adjust settings so it's always accessible, even when rigged into tight locations. You also get full control over advanced camera features such as on-screen focus and exposure tools, 3D LUTs, HDR, metadata entry, timecode, Blackmagic RAW settings, and more.
Battery Backup Power
The Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera G2 has lots of different power options. It includes a common 12 VDC locking power connector so the cable won't be accidentally pulled out. Plus, the camera includes a power supply with five different AC socket adapters for different countries. The camera also supports a standard LP-E6 compatible battery so you can add a battery for local power backup during critical live broadcasts. These batteries are readily available around the world and will be kept charged by the camera. You can even use an adapter to connect the camera to V-mount batteries for true all-day power.

Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K is designed to be used worldwide, so it supports 13 popular languages. When setting up your camera, you can choose to work in English, German, French, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Chinese, Japanese, or Korean. It's easy to switch to another language simply by going into the menu settings.
