The MagBox 24 Starter Kit from MagMod contains everything you'll need to maximise the potential of your speedlight. The kit includes the 24 inch MagBox Octa, a MagRing that will support either one or two speedlights, and a MagShoe that allows you to handhold the setup or mount it to a stand. To use with two speedlights, purchase of a B&H# MAMMGRIP02 for each flash unit is required.
MagBox 24 Octa Softbox (24 inch)
Featuring a one-piece design and a magnetic base for very fast set up and breakdown, the 24 inch MagBox 24 Octa Softbox from MagMod is compatible with Profoto, Bowens, Elinchrom, or Paul C. Buff strobes with optional dedicated adapters and one or two speedlights with the addition of the MagGrip that is sold separately. One of the MagBox's most noticeable features is its evenness of output from edge to edge. Remarkably, this is done without an internal baffle and without exhibiting a hot spot. For personal expression, there are two available gel kits with a variety of colours that slip into the softbox's integrated gel holder, while there's also a CTO set for conversion of your light source to tungsten balance. Finally, sold separately, MagMod's FocusDiffuser functions like a grid and a lens combined, allowing you to control spill and direct the light while increasing its output.
Magnetic Attachment
Magnets inside the base of the MagBox make attachment fast, silent, and super strong. Even if you tilt your softbox at a deep angle or (for some reason) shoot inside a wind tunnel, the MagBox and the MagRing are staying put.
Easy Set Up and Tear Down
The MagBox is one solid piece. Pop it open with an easy click. With magnets in the base, you can throw it onto your MagRing in a second. When you're ready to remove the MagBox from the MagRing, simply press the Magnetic Field Disrupter. Then fold up the MagBox; it collapses in one neat, portable piece and can be stored safely in the MagBox Case.
Speedlight- and Strobe-Compatible
The versatile MagBox can be used with one or two speedlights - any flash that has MagMod's patented MagGrip installed will work. Or use one of the available adapters to mount your Profoto, Bowens, Elinchrom, or Paul C. Buff strobe.
Obstruction-Free Design
The calculated design of the MagBox 24 Octa distributes light evenly and without a hotspot, the reason why this softbox is devoid of an internal baffle. It can be used with one or two speedlights. The MagBox provides clean light quality and optimal output.
MagRing
The MagMod MagRing is a lightweight universal speedlight mount that accepts up to two speedlights that have been outfitted with MagMod's MagGrip (MagGrip not included). The MagRing features a cold shoe mounting foot and can mount to a MagMod MagShoe for handheld or stand-mounted use. Magnetic attachments are at the heart of the MagRing and are used to hold MagMod's MagBox softbox. Magnets also secure your speedlights when mounted with the MagGrip, and the MagRing incorporates locking doors for further security.
MagShoe for MagRing
The MagMod MagShoe for MagRing is a lightweight ergonomic holder for your MagRing flash holder. The MagShoe can be mounted to a stand with a 5/8 inch pin or easily carried handheld, and it accepts either a flash or the MagRing using a cold shoe mounting system. It is designed to operate with only one hand, leaving your other hand available to hold your camera, which allows you to mount your flash or MagRing and lock it in place with a single hand.
The single-handed operation extends to the tilt function, which is controlled by a simple trigger that you squeeze to release the lock. This allows you to have a secure grip on the MagShoe while locking or unlocking it with the same hand that is holding it secure. Releasing the trigger engages the tilt lock, which allows the MagShoe to support your MagRing, two flashes, and the MagBox softbox. It integrates an umbrella mounting hole with lock, allowing you to create that familiar soft look. The plastic exterior of the MagShoe is gentle on your hands, and will not accidently trigger your flash via its hot-shoe mounting foot.
