The Kenko 49mm MC-ND400 Filter decreases the amount of light entering the camera lens. This allows to shoot with wide open diaphragm even in shiny day, to add motion blur to subjects and to extend time exposures. The ND400 reduces light entering the camera lens by the equivant of 8 2/3 stops.
The ND400 should be used if you need to substantially reduce the amount of light, such as when taking a photograph of the sun.
It is also used to create different effects from what we actually see
With a slow shutter speed.
