The annual Photo Live has just concluded - a full day of trade presentations and expo fun at a city hotel.
It was run under the aegis of Camera Electronic, but around the Novotel function room you could find stands from a whole raft of major and minor photographic suppliers, service organisations, private firms, and photographic societies. There were lectures that were very well attended and trade sessions that were a hive of activity. A wet hive, mind, for part of the morning...but that shows the dedication that Western Australian photographers have for the subject - they braved the bluster to attend. Some made it an All-Day event.
As one of the expo staff, I could tell this around the 5:00 closing mark...or at least my feet could. I think next year we are either going to have hot epsom salt foot baths at every table or massage chairs and rum drinks with little umbrellas in them. At least I was not bored - there were enough people asking enough good questions to make it fun to participate.
And a special set of kudos to the people who made it all go --- Julie "Jetag" Kerbal for taking event pictures, Dale Neil for escaping from Mexican bandits to be there, Gary Schwidden for gliding silently everywhere to take videos, and the indefatigable girls of CE.
No-one screamed or fell over, though it was a close-run thing about 4:30 for me at the book stall.
Here's a photo round-up of some of the workers and products on the day.
