Who To Sell What To When The Door Is Open

It might seem an odd question for a shopkeeper to ask themselves...” who do I sell my wares to when the door opens? “. But it is one that they need to consider for their sake and the sake of the clients. Consider: a. If you wish to sell a limited range of stock to everybody, you need to have something that is absolutely vital and you need to offer it at a venue that has everybody going by. The best example of this is the petrol station that sells...well...petrol. Drivers need it and the petrol stations should be on a major road. Combine the two factors and you can sell a vanishing product at a high price plus make a killing on bottled energy drinks and little pine tree air fresheners. b. If you wish to sell a limited range of stock to a limited range of people you needn't be on the main road, but you'd better have something that is highly desirable and sells at a robust price - to make it at all worth opening that door. There is one camera and lens maker that comes to mind who has perfected this approach...fortunately for them their products support the price and exclusivity so the desire to buy them is there. c. If you essay to sell items that are not essential to many people, but you still want to make it profitable, you must either concentrate upon the people to whom the items are essential and convince them that they need them all, or you must convince the rest of the potential buyers that they are fun, or trendy, or prestigious. d. If you have a great many items that are none of the above - neither trendy, fun, prestigious, essential, or exclusive...there must be something else about them that calls to clients. It's not like selling ice cream or fighter planes - you cannot appeal to the desire for a snack or to patriotism. Motherhood and fluffy kittens won't do it, either - people are getting enough of that on social media sites. About the only lever you can apply here is monetary...if you make something cheap enough someone will want to buy it. If that sounds cynical, well cynicism keeps a lot of $2 shops open...and you can sometimes do alright in those shops. Why are you reading this on the Camera Electronic weblog column? Because CE has, had, or will get items in every category named. You can come in, engage the attention of the staff, and get exclusive, or cheap, or trendy, or essential...just as you like. There are a lot of times when you'll find something that is perfect for you, cheap, and essential. Pay for it and run out the door before anyone realises what just happened! If you can't think what you want, come in a poke around anyway. There are enough equipment cabinets with cameras, lenses, flashes, accessories, etc. that eventually you'll come across something that appeals to you. Make sure that you look at the specials on the little posters stuck to the front counter. Cashbacks, special offers, sales, and extra accessories are all worthwhile if you can time your purchases well - I know because I took advantage of a double cashback in December. The heading image is why I bought the new lens and the price was so sweet that it beat the rest of the world.
