Disposable Cameras

on December 04, 2024

If you are prepared to simply have it…simple.

While balancing my expensive mirrorless and an enormous flash above this stack of disposable cameras - and I did not stack them; that’s the staff getting creative - an off duty sales person came in to buy some film for personal shooting.

She looked into the film cabinet and was delighted to see an older point-and-shoot for sale. I new she shot digital as well, so I asked what the enthusiasm was for. “ Well it’s just fun to not have to set everything - just see something and shoot it. “

And there I was doing a juggling act and trying to peer into an LCD while holding the flash reflector up…and it struck me that she was soooo right.

These disposables are the even simpler extension of her thought. All in one, no settings to worry over, sturdy plastic construction, and hardly any weight to heft about. Cheap, cheerful, and bright images, and if you are at all into photography you can apply the rules of composition just as well with these as you could with the biggest gear.

It would be about you and not the tech.

Go a little further? Ilford make great little 35mm point and shoot flash cameras that have more control. You can get disposable or re-loadable and there is a range of decor colours.

Hardly anyone shoots for money with these, but that is because they haven’t tried it yet. Somewhere there is an artist with these things who is going to hit the scene big.

After all, they’ll have 27 chances every time they pick one up and all they need is processing and promotion after that. I know lots of photographers who can do both jobs for themselves…

Check out our disposable cameras range.
